Trace Kennemore grew up in South Pittsburg, Tennessee and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He began his career as a high school teacher and coach at Marion County High School.

Trace also served six years in the U.S. Naval Reserve, achieving the rank of Second Class Petty Officer as a Corpsman. It was this military experience that inspired him to transition into the medical profession. He returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1999.

Trace worked as a Clinical Director of a physical therapy clinic for six years before opening Southern Rehab Physical Therapy in 2005. He later advanced his education by earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2013 from The Evidence In Motion Institute of Health Professionals.

Trace married his high school sweetheart, Tracey, and they have two adult children, Cade and Cassidy. With a background in coaching baseball, football, and basketball, Trace has a strong interest in treating athletes and helping them return to play at the highest level possible.

Clinical Director

Rachel grew up in the United Kingdom and earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Science from the University of Brighton. She went on to complete a second Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Wales, Cardiff, in 1997.

In 2009, Rachel became board-certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and re-certified in 2019. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2011. Most recently, she completed advanced training in dry needling and received her Certification in Dry Needling (Cert DN) from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy.

Rachel joined Southern Rehab Physical Therapy in 2008 and currently serves as the Clinical Director. She lives in Marion County and has a strong interest in treating both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, using a combination of manual therapy and dry needling techniques. She is especially passionate about helping patients recover after surgery and return to their daily activities, work, or sports.

Kathryn graduated from David Lipscomb University in 1997 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. She continued her education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she obtained her Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy in 1999. She has been with SRPT since 2013 and enjoys treating knees, shoulders, ankles, cervical spine, and working with the athletic population. Kathryn previously worked with the former head Physician for the Tennessee Titans as a physical therapist and Clinic Manager for nine years.

Holly Nelson, PT, DPT

Holly Nelson, PT, DPT

Holly obtained a BS degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2014, while on a full academic and music scholarship. She then continued her studies at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN, to obtain her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2019. Holly began at SRPT in January 2020. She enjoys treating a variety of cases, including general orthopedics and neurological diagnoses. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and spending time with friends and family.
